Free Tax Assistance for the Public
Want free help with your federal and state tax returns? Free assistance is available through community tax aid to individuals who earn less than $30,000 or families earning less than $40,000. Tax assistance will be available at centers around the Boston area, including Allston, Brighton, Charlestown, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Roxbury and the South End. Tax Resources Available - Tax Saving Tips for 2007
Members now have access to a brochure, speech and PowerPoint presentation geared toward assisting clients with preparing for the 2007 tax season, produced by the AICPA Communications Team. Topics covered include: Filing Basics: filing status, exemptions and common deductions; Tax Breaks for Homeowners: interest and property taxes and capital gains; Retirement Savings Tax Breaks: IRAs and 401(k)s; Child and Education-Related Tax Breaks: child tax credit, dependent care credit, education tax credits and 529 plans; Tax Considerations for Investors: long-term capital gains and dividends, offsetting capital gains with losses and "kiddie tax rules; and Other Provisions for 2007. Members can use these resources to promote their practices and services, and increase their visibility in their communities.
