| Organization/Position Description |
Colony Retirement Homes is a non profit provider of affordable housing for elders in the Worcester area. We have five HUD funded sites - four in Worcester and one in Holden. We have a staff of about 45, about $4 million in annual revenue and over $7 million in assets (almost all real estate). We are unique in the area in that we also have a food program/kitchen in one of our buildings. We are fiscally strong and our audits are clean and easy. All of our buildings are 20-40 years old but in very good shape.
We've recently had two board members resign due to health constraints. In the ideal situation, we are seeking someone with ties to Worcester (living or working in or around the city) who has strong fiscal or business skills. The exact industry doesn't matter. We'd also be happy to have someone with other beneficial skills - affordable housing, engineering, elder services, food services, construction, etc.
The board positions are voluntary. We expect members to commit to attend a monthly meeting for about 3 hours (often less). This can vary significantly, of course, with what the member wants to do in terms of committee assignments and the needs of the expertise of the member. There are no fundraising expectations of the board. |
