Last year, the MSCPA:

  • Held 158 CPE courses in 13 locations throughout Massachusetts.
  • 400 members attended MSCPA Red Sox and Celtics games.
  • Saved members at least $500 on CPE (if all 80 credits were taken through the MSCPA).
  • Connected with 1,770 members on the MSCPA's LinkedIn group; had 720 fans of the MSCPA's Facebook page; and 1,700 followers on Twitter.
  • Organized 25 special events ranging from golf outings to networking breakfasts.
  • Offered 22 committees for MSCPA members to join, and created a network of 777 active members.
  • Distributed 6,500 financial literacy calendars to the public through 110 community libraries in MA.
  • Encouraged 776 MSCPA student members to pursue accounting as a career.
  • Provided 51,336 CPE credits.
  • Protected the CPA license of 10,600 members through continuous lobbying and legislative monitoring.
  • Donated $75,400 to students through scholarships and CPA Exam vouchers.
  • Visited 40 colleges and high schools to promote the accounting profession.
  • Engaged 450 young professionals through community service projects and events.
  • Linked 50 members with local nonprofits seeking CPAs to serve on their boards.
  • Administered 317 peer reviews.
  • Received 110 placements in local and national media outlets.

Available Online Applications:

Fellow Membership

  • A Certified Public Accountant under the laws of Massachusetts; or
  • A Certified Public Accountant under the laws of another state in the United States.

Associate Membership

  • Any non-certified professional in the employ of or supervised by a Fellow of the Society, or who holds an interest in a firm practicing public accountancy whose other partners, shareholders and/or members include a Fellow of the Society.
  • A teacher regularly engaged in the teaching of accounting as a faculty member of a degree granting institution in Massachusetts; or
  • An employee of a Federal, State or local governmental unit in Massachusetts engaged in accounting, auditing or taxation; or
  • An Associate of the Society on May 1, 1967.
  • Any person passing the CPA Exam.
  • A citizen of another country who holds a valid professional certification in an accounting or finance-related profession.

Student Membership

  • Any Accounting/Business undergraduate or graduate student attending a college or university in Massachusetts; or, attending a college or university out-of-state with a permanent address in Massachusetts.
  • Any CPA Exam Candidate who does not meet the Associate category of membership who
    • will apply or is enrolled in a CPA exam review course offering a discount to Society members
    • has applied or is sitting for the CPA exam

To comply with Society bylaws and to avoid misrepresentation, you must always refer to yourself as a "Student" member of the MSCPA until you become eligible for an Associate or Fellow membership.
