8:45am – 12:15pm
Ethical behavior will range on a scale of black and white and every shade of grey in between. COVID has put extreme stresses on both our personal and professional lives. And presented situations that we had never considered before. Unexpected situations and new pressures may cloud the way we see things in ourselves and in others. For example, should Tom Brady, a quarterback making $30 million annually, have taken almost $1 million in PPP funding? What are the ethical principles behind giving vaccine priority to smokers over school teachers? Should a person employed by a Massachusetts company but working from home in New Hampshire be subject to income tax by the state of Massachusetts? And what about burnout, how does exhaustion affect your ability to stand up for what is right?
In this session, we will discuss and debate the pros and cons of both sides of the story. We will identify different ethical decision-making models. Finally we will discuss specific ways to support yourself, your family, and your coworkers in making the right decisions.
