How would you like to be able to train two employees for the price of one? If you are a company with 100 or fewer employees based in Massachusetts, you may qualify for the State Workforce Training Express Fund, which will reimburse you 50% of your training costs.
How does this program work?
This program is funded by employers' payment to the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund - $8.40 per employee per year is collected. The money is placed in a Trust Fund that is given out on a rolling application basis, and at any given time there is between $18-21 million available for distribution back to employers through several different grant programs.
What kinds of grants are there?
There are several categories of grants available to employers: Hiring Incentive Grants, General Program, Consortium Grants and the Express Program. The Society has completed the application process and is participating in the Express Fund, which provides up to 50% reimbursement for the cost of training for qualified employers with 100 or fewer employees.
I am a sole practitioner who does not pay into Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund for myself, but I have an employee for whom I pay into the UI Fund. Can I still participate?
Yes, you can still qualify for training for you, but you must also make training available to your employee(s) as well.
