The MSCPA is excited to announce it's second MSCPA Fitness Challenge sponsored this year by IFP/Harbor Strategies Group to help you stay active this tax season and winter! The challenge will run Monday, February 5 – Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Gather your coworkers and sign up a team by Sunday, February 4 at 11:59 p.m. Team totals are calculated by average, so teams of any size are welcome (individuals too!). This year, we’ll introduce new award categories based on team size:
*Steps will be tracked using the Challenge Runner app or by manually inputting them via their website.
To invite your colleagues to sign up directly for the challenge on the ChallengeRunner website, click here.
We've also compiled a FAQ sheet that covers all of the essential information you need to commit to get fit this tax season!
Step 1: Register Your Team
Step 2: Create a ChallengeRunner Account
Already have a ChallengeRunner account?
For those of you who participated in the challenge last year who have an existing username on ChallengeRunner, follow these steps to manually select your team’s category:
2) Select the 2018 MSCPA Fitness Challenge
3) Click your name at the top right next to “Organization”
4) Select “Profile”
5) Select your category (referred to as a “location” )
To create or select your team, select "team."
If you’re new to the challenge this year or want to create a new account, you will also have the option to select your category when registering.
Last year, we had over 350 participants from over 40 firms participate. The top three teams walked over 1,000 miles (more than from Boston to Atlanta)!
We want to hear about your progress! This year we’ll also reward the team who is the most active on social media. Take photos of you, your teams or your walking routine and share them with us using #MSCPAfitnesschallenge or sending them to Hannah Naranjo at email@example.com to be included in social media, Friday@Five and SumNews! In addition, we'll be listing the top three teams every week in Friday@Five.
Who Can Participate?
All members of the MSCPA and non-members are welcome - as long as they are a staff member of the firm/company (keep in mind that steps are calculated by average for both teams and individuals).
Hint: You may not think you have a fitness device but if you have an iPhone, the Apple Health app actually tracks your steps every day!
How Do I Submit My Step Count Each Day?
You have two options. You can sync your fitness device to automatically send your step count to ChallengeRunner, OR you can input your data manually each day.
To convert other forms of exercise into steps, refer to this conversion chart.
To Sync Your Device:
Note: If you use Apple Health you cannot sync via the website, you must sync via the mobile app. After you create your account, download the ChallengeRunner app from the app store on your phone. Go to your phone’s settings menu and click on “ChallengeRunner.” Click “Enabled.” Go to the app and login using your credentials. After a few minutes the two apps will sync.
To Input Data Manually:
Each night before you go to bed check your step counter, log into your ChallengeRunner account and input the number of steps in the empty box next to your name.
How Can I See the Number of Steps My Device Logged?
When Is the Challenge Over?
The challenge ends at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. We will announce the winners during lunch and prizes will be awarded!
