Found In Translation is a nonprofit Medical Interpreter Job Training program with a two-fold mission: 1) to empower low-income, multilingual women to become financially independent 2) to decrease health disparities by increasing language access in the healthcare industry. Found In Translation fully supports our participants by removing any barrier that prevents them from succeeding in class. Many of these barriers are socioeconomic, including affordable and reliable childcare, transportation, and school materials. We also provide a mentorship component, financial literacy, and professional development instruction to better prepare our women to enter the interpreting world as certificate-holding medical interpreters upon completion of our program. Our financial literacy program has professionals from various financial backgrounds to present on different financial education topics: financial recovery, salary negotiation, savings and budgeting, etc. We are particularly looking for a CPA that could present on managing/budgeting on an inconsistent cash flow (because many of our women are freelance interpreters) and how to manage their taxes as a freelance interpreters (invoices, gas receipts, etc).
