Opera Theater of Cape Cod is a small opera company that is working toward becoming a public charitable non-profit. This summer we will be entering our second season and performing a chamber version of "La Boheme" for the Cape Cod community. Opera Theater of Cape Cod is founded with the purpose of igniting the greater Cape Cod region’s passion for opera, by producing high quality and accessible opera performances. The company believes that the most successful arts organizations are those with deep ties to the local community and it commits to collaborating with other Cape arts organizations. The company believes that opera in the vernacular is the most accessible to audiences and commits to performing shows in the vernacular whenever possible. The company commits to the education of audiences and the next generation of performers, through outreach, internships, and young artist programs. Our team is looking to bring on a CPA as our Board's treasurer. We currently have eight board members, who are a mix of Cape Cod community contacts, business professionals, and artists. Our board meets 4 times a year, once in person (our annual meeting) and 3 times by teleconference (quarterly meetings). I would be looking for assistance with general accounting for the group and filing our 990 forms with the IRS annually. What's exciting about this company is that we're bringing back an art form that hasn't had a lot of representation on the Cape in recent years. We have some of the best singers in the greater New England area participating in our productions, and we're looking to increase our connections with the community through performances and outreach. Our team has members who have backgrounds in fundraising and development, arts business administration, and human resources.
