Friday@Five has arrived!

CEO CORNER

Dear Hannah,

As you know, the conference committee charged with reconciling the differences between the House and Senate tax reform proposals will soon release a compromise bill. We will review the proposal and continue working in coordination with the AICPA on any lobbying activity while Congress prepares to take final votes.

As this process wraps up, we will need to shift our focus to the state to help lawmakers understand the changes that will be made to the tax code, identifying areas where Massachusetts will disagree with federal law. We will look to you and your expertise as we begin that process. Please contact Zach Donah at
zdonah@mscpaonline.org with any feedback.

These changes are also coming while the state is preparing for Fiscal Year 2019. As you may know, we recently launched a member-wide survey to help inform legislators and state budget officials on the impact of taxpayer behavior on state revenue collections. While we know much of this could be impacted by tax reform, we are looking for your input on client trends as they relate to estimated payments, capital gains, safe harbor and/or corporate investment.
You can take the survey by clicking here

To our members who are observing Hanukkah, I wish you a wonderful celebration! And on behalf the MSCPA, I wish all of you a joyous holiday season!

Amy Pitter
MSCPA President/CEO

Please note: The MSCPA will be closed on Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26 and Monday, January 1. The next issue of Friday@Five will arrive on Friday, January 5.
